STUDY 007 · A SHORT FILM IN CHARCOAL

What the
hands keep.

Five ordinary moments, one family, a few clocks. No faces and no words, only distance, light and the room between people. Scroll at your own pace.

The film, scene by scene

  1. 07:10. A kitchen at breakfast. A tall figure and a small figure sit at either end of a short table, a pocket watch between them, a wall clock above. Morning light crosses the floor.
  2. The long way home. The two walk hand in hand past a clock tower whose hands spin. Leaves fall. By the end of the street the small figure is as tall as the other, and their hands let go.
  3. 16:40. A station platform. One figure boards a train and the train leaves. The camera pulls back until the one who stayed is small in an empty platform at dusk.
  4. 23:50. The same kitchen at night. One chair is empty. Moonlight moves across the floor and the remaining figure fades like charcoal brushed from paper. The pocket watch has stopped.
  5. 07:10. Close on the watch: a hand winds it and the second hand starts again. Dawn returns, and pulling back, the kitchen holds a tall figure and a small one at breakfast again.
WHAT WE’RE TESTING

Can a page feel remembered rather than read?

Every cut passes through a clock face: the camera pushes into one scene’s clock and pulls back out of the next. The only colour is the second hand.

This is a first capability draft: one SVG stage, one scroll-scrubbed timeline, native scroll and no video.
